Secretariat of the Water and Climate Coalition

The Secretariat of the Water and Climate Coalition is hosted within the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The support team of the Water and Climate Coalition is:

Johannes Cullman

Director Water and Cryosphere

We need to get water and environmental management right to provide sustainable futures for people and planet. We need to transform from extractive, growth oriented business paradigms to a culture of circular economy. We need to provide offers for inclusive cooperation across borders on maps, between sectors and in the minds of people. We need to work together for social, societal and intergenerational fairness. I am working for the water and climate coalition because we have the chance to change things. We can offer alternative ways to business as usual. Please join us!

Improving our knowledge about the water cycle is key to successfully manage water resources and adapting to climate change

After all, what is beautiful in this world is not a material object; instead, it is the unparalleled feeling that comes with doing what we love and, through it touching the lives of countless others. I believe no other alternative can impart this feeling except doing socially relevant, impactful work, and where better to practice it than at WMO.

Youth Engagement and Communications

Elevating the youth voice not only to the process, but in the process.

Many of the impacts of climate change can be felt through water such as floods, droughts and other extreme weather events. The ones who suffer the most are people with low resilience to these events. I believe that by working on water adaptation to climate change I am supporting equal human rights, which is why I am excited to be a part of this movement!

Outreach and Engagement Support

Developing strategies, building partnerships and sparking dialogues are key drivers for me. Within the bigger picture of working towards a water-secure and net-zero world, my primary aim is to tie these drivers together and rouse collaborative action in the water and climate space.

At the interface of Digital & Human, impactful and conscientious communications is the key to drive positive change at the ‘glocal’ level.
